Entropy
Heat Death
The universe approaches Entropy (complete randomness, heat death of the universe). The existence of life itself defies Entropy, created by the will of the Gods. It is in the nature of water to flow downwards, for the universe to approach heat death, for Gods to defy Entropy.
Entropy is inevitable. The appearance of the points of intersection indicates The Tower is on the way to Heat Death. All events of chaos (anything reducing order) contributes to Entropy (ex. conflict, war) but Entropy also causes chaos (malignancies), leading to a positive feedback loop. The ultimate end of The Tower results in all floors collapsing into one. There is no more point to fighting Entropy as there is to trying to stop the sun from exploding.
Entropy is not an entity or malicious in nature. It is the state of things. It is beyond the comprehension of mortal beings. Some worship it (see: Agents of Entropy), working as agents of chaos to bring about the End faster.
Malignancies
The nature of Entropy leads to Malignancies occurring within The Tower. These are random, spontaneous chaotic events.
