Angel
live in Sanctum
- Non-mortal beings
- Sexless
- Created asexually between two angels, depending on the needs of Sanctum
- Raised in a family of the two “parents” & in commune with other angels (“it takes a village”)
- Exist in a hierarchy—all angels begin at the lowest level from birth (basic angel) and climb the ranks based off of “deeds accomplished” and character (determined by an outside force)
- Final creation of the Old Gods. Saw Earth lacked direct intervention and figured a more “hands on” approach would allow The Tower to last longer.
- Purpose is to maintain order in The Tower
- Guiding souls of the dead once they reach Sanctum, work with Reapers, and addressing Malignancies
- Created with a nature of “drive for order.” Refers to how the nature of an angel is to desire order in “just the right amount.”
- Like with any organism, there are varying levels of “drive for order”
- Angels of “low drive” don’t advance far in the hierarchy, may be seen as slackers
- Angels of too “high drive” may become dictators, desiring absolute control. A danger to Sanctum and all of The Tower. Most extreme desires to remove free will. May disguise their “high drive” and rise high in the hierarchy, as they appear to be the perfect angel at first impression.
- Innately kind and good creatures, all work towards the same goal. Differ on the best approach to that goal.
- If ichor is blood & “light” are the red blood cells, the angels are made up of “light”
- Can “bleed” ichor and sustain physical damage. Heal, depending on extent of wound. “Die” if enough damage is done to their body.
- Design notes: always symmetrical design. Varying amount of wings (random, result of “parents.”) Faint glow/aura. Appear beyond perfect, beautiful. Star symbols on the body indicate their order. Appear as the same species of the viewer. For example, a cat will see the angel as a cat but a dog will see the angel as a dog.

7 Virtues
The first seven angels created by the Old Gods. Exemplify their given trait. The most pure and original. Closest with demons and see the 7 sins as siblings. Act as a council for all angels of Sanctum.
Passed on as a “spirit” in a “host.” When the host grows weary of working as a virtue or believes it’s time for change, they choose a successor (a VERY accomplished and high ranking angel) that is believed to exemplify the given trait. They pass on the “spirit” of virtue, which includes the memories of all those who have served as the virtue prior, including the original virtue, and additional power. The host is fundamentally changed (re: who are we without our memories? Where does our sense of self come from?), maintaining their sense of self but influenced by the memories of the prior virtues.
An example of how the new host changes is that they will feel an instant kinship to the other virtues and sins, as if they had always been family despite being strangers.
Big deal—fancy ceremony for “the passing of virtue.” All angels attend.
