Bastard

An angel is made of light and therefore lacks the genetic material to properly create a zygote. It is forbidden for angels to fall in love and procreate with mortals. When they do, “bastards” or “half-breeds” are created. The only living creature angels will seek out and kill.

Always a product between an angel (sexless) and mortal female (gets pregnant to bear the child).

The given reason: a bastard’s existence is a threat to the universe itself as the bastard’s instability contributes to entropy. Mercy killing. Bastards live in constant pain because they lack half of their genetic material.

The actual reason: existence of a bastard challenges The Tower’s perception of Sanctum and angels. Angels strive to maintain this visage in order to smoothly carry out their job. It’s more difficult to get people to trust you if they know you too are capable of sin.

Have very weak, sporadic powers. Largely uncontrollable and occur spontaneously.

Design notes: always asymmetrical. May have: malformed limbs, extra limbs, missing limbs, facial deformities (ocular mutations), any sort of mutation, wings. Will never have a full pair of wings. Wings are often deformed and underdeveloped. Exist in constant pain.
